Detect Earthquake using Nokia Devices
If you have a Nokia phone, you can use an application called "Seismograph Touch" on your Nokia phone that uses the device ’s built-in accelerometer to detect the activities and shows you the graph on the screen. The application is compatible with the devices that has a built in accelerometer though. The application is available for free in Ovi Store.
Detect Earthquake using Android Phones
Most of the android phones comes with built in accelerometer. Android Marketplace has quite a few application that will convert your Android phone into Seismograph. One of such app is "Seismo Wallpaper". One cool thing about this application is that you don't have to open up an app and keep it running to measure the earthquake. This application installs as a regular wallpaper on your phone. Seismo Wallpaper uses your Android device's accelerometer to measure movements on any axis with/without noise.

If you have Microsoft Windows phone, don't worry. YOu can too detect an earthquake using your mobile phone. Seismo is the app for you. Thge application uses the accelerometer and draws a small graph. For iPhones/iPods and iPads, there are plenty of mobile applications that can be used to detect earthquake. Just go to your App Store and search.. hehe.. but here is a simple browser based trick.
