One of the leaked images taken from a briefing document shows four interactive boxes which look like a mix between Android widgets and Windows Phone live tiles. The new looking home screen is somewhat similar to Apple’s iPhone with four rows of Apps and folders and additional controls at the bottom. They look a good deal more customizable than the existing interface on BlackBerry 7.
Research in Motion has pointed out that BlackBerry 10 will not be available on upgrades of the existing handsets. There will be a universal inbox which is likely to be one of the main features that will be coming to the Playbook tablet with the Playbook 2.0 OS. The caller display screen will also include a video chat button.
Research in Motion has not given any specific date for the release of BlackBerry 10. The briefing of this system was done at the RIM’s Developer Conference in Europe last week. The first handset to come out with the BlackBerry 10 Operating System is likely to be the BlackBerry London.
The images have revealed that there will be new widget tiles and a revamped icon tray.
