President Obama has appealed to the Iranian government to give back the captured top-secret drone that is sitting with them. He is not commenting anything on what kind of intelligence is likely to be compromised. The Obama administration has submitted a formal request to Iran. They want Iran to return a surveillance drone that was captured by Iranian armed forces. The Administration is, however, not hopeful that Iran will comply with their request.

The US wants the top secret aircraft back. The Iranian President has said nothing that will suggest that his country would grant the US request. Iran has the control of this spy plane now. There are people in Iran who can control this spy plane and who can analyze the plane’s system. One Iranian news agency has reported that Iran has shrugged off the US request. The Defence Minister of Iran is actually looking for a US apology for invading Iranian air space.

It was an unmanned aircraft. US will not comment on what the Iranians might learn from studying the downed aircraft.  The diplomatic exchanges between Washington and Teheran are often handled by Switzerland which represents US interests in Iran.

Iran National Television has reported that Iranian experts were in the final stages of recovering data from the RQ-170 Sentinel drone which went down in Iran earlier this month. Teheran is calling the drone’s capture as a victory for Iran. However, US officials say that the aircraft malfunctioned and that it was not brought down by Iran.

US have been continuously suspicious of Iran’s ongoing support for the militant groups and about their continued defiance of demands to prove that their nuclear program is a peaceful one.
