Many people are shocked and sad at the resignation of Steve Jobs, the Chief Executive of Apple. What does this mean for the company now? Apple will not panic as this move was on the cards for some time. Steve Jobs had announced earlier this year that he would be taking an extended medical leave to battle cancer and also to recover from a liver transplant.
His health has not been good for several years. Many people feel that it is not going to be easy to replace him because no one is carrying a vision like him. Yet, he has developed so many processes that it will be easy for the new executives to take the company ahead. Steve Jobs had even begun an `Apple’ University along with a leading Harvard business professor.
Steve Jobs feels that this is the right time for Apple to move on without him being there. Yet, it is going to be a big vacuum to fill as he has been quite an influential figure in personal technology for the last three decades. He was acclaimed for his showmanship and launching of products done without advance publicity and away from the prying eyes of the media. He started this marketing strategy that brought lot of curiosity and excitement to the Silicon Valley and created a huge hype around Apple products.
His last appearance as Chief Executive was in the month of June when he launched the iCloud. Apple has some huge products coming in such as the iPhone 5 and the iPad 3. Tim Cook is going to replace him as the Chief Executive. Cook has been handpicked and has been acting as the Chief Executive throughout Jobs’ medical leave.
