The Indian car owners always consider the overall economy; how their decision to go for the cheaper to run diesel cars, is going to be affected by the higher initial investment. In other words, high cost of diesel vehicles was nullifying the benefit of cheaper running costs of diesel. In this new initiative, the company is offering its models like Punto or Linea, at the price of petrol models. Customers can even opt for cash back. Additionally, if the customers exchange their old cars to get upgraded versions of Linea or Punto can benefit by bonus amount of Rs. 20000.
President and CEO of the Fiat, Rajeev Kapoor explained that with advent of new technology, the diesel cars are no more inferior to Petrol versions. With constant rise in the prices of petrol, going for the diesel cars makes more economic sense. This is the trend all over the world and Fiat has led this initiative all over the world and now it is taken up in India.
