Google
Over a long debate on Android openness, Google has finally hit back the Open Source claim. Google’s Strategy Chief has officially confirmed that Android will remain Open Source forever; there is no such plan to change its original status. Google statement is clear indication to those who’re waiting for Android’s exit as Open Source tag in Smartphone sector.

From last few months, international media keeps on hyping Search Giant on Android’s openness especially after the delaying in Honeycomb source code & apps reported attacks on Android Store. Today, Android is the leading Smartphone OS across the globe, & giving tough competition to Apple iOS. Android’s success had also forced Google to join hands with Microsoft Windows Mobile.

Android is and will remain free and open source, Google's vice president Andy Rubin reiterated, putting an end to rumours of it becoming a paid platform. "We continue to be an open source platform and will continue releasing source code when it is ready. As I write this the Android team is still hard at work to bring all the new Honeycomb features to phones. As soon as this work is completed, we'll publish the code. This temporary delay does not represent a change in strategy. We remain firmly committed to providing Android as an open source platform across many device types," said Andy Rubin ~ Android Developers Blog

Earlier, Google delayed the discharge of a new source code for developers, which had created rumors in the media that the company changing its strategy for Android and that it will release a paid version of Honeycomb. Honeycomb is considered as Android’s first tablet-optimized software. While mentioning Honeycomb source codes, Rubin mentioned about the difference in form factor between tablets and phones as the reason Google hasn’t released Honeycomb’s source code to device manufacturers and developers.

Google has smashed bit hard on Anti-Open Source virtual protestors (Opponents), hopefully it will soon release the version also & prove the statement on OPENESS. We wish, Google will continue Android with the Open Source Tag.
