The Telecom authority of India or TRAI has ordered all Service providers to cancel all exclusive and discriminative MNP offers.

From the very beginning of the release of MNP There has been a large number of offers by Indian service provider to get the users of their rival service provider to change.

 

The service provider gives special tariff to customer of their rivals in order to steal their customer. These Tariffs and offers are called Exclusive MNP offers. TRAI views these offers which are meant to steal customer from other service provider and are not available to general public as discriminatory. Also according to TRAI these exclusive MNP offers violate the 10th clause of the Telecommunication tariff order which was issued in 1999.

This 10th clause of the Telecommunication tariff order 1999 states that “no service provider will not discriminate between the subscribers of any class and such classification of subscribers shouldn’t be arbitrary”. It is the responsibility of the service provider to give a logical explanation to justify these offers.

TRAI stated that offering different tariff for MNP offers and to general public is not justifiable as it is only based on to attract customers from other service providers
