So everybody tried Social networking herd, everybody tried mobile services and now they are after Direct To Home services. Yes, First Tata Sky then Reliance BigTV and now Videocon also got a licence to start Direct-tohome(DTH) services in India.
Videocon is planning to launch DTH services by mid September. The group planned to utilise about 2,000 of its service stations to push its DTH services. Looks like company plans to invest Rs 10 billion in the venture over two years
Videocon has signed up with SingTel for six Ku-band transponders. Videocon will operate its DTH service under the D2H brand. The company will use MPEG-4 compression technology and plans to kick off the service with 200 channels.
DNAIndia asked whether Videocon planned to increase prices of its products, Dhoot said that prices of some products would be hiked marginally.
