DishTV has tied up with Shaadi.com to bring matrimonial services to its television subscibers. "Shaadi Active" service will let marriage candidates and their parents to search for eligible bride/groom of their choice. Subscribers can define the parameters of selection and search by the criteria of age, community, caste, profession etc. Based on these criteria, Shaadi.com profiles will be displayed on the TV screen and the subscriber can then choose the profile of his choice and contact him / her.
Profiles will be refreshed on a daily basis. But think about it for a minute, don't you think that it looks weird that the whole family is sitting in front of television set and they go through the list of profiles to find the life partner. Its like going through the list of inventory for Video on Demand services.
Its possible that Shaadi.com will later introduce video uploading features where prospective candidates can take their "profile" video and put it on Shaadi.com which then eventually can be seen on your television through "Shaadi Active" service.
Searching for a life partner should be kept private to the person who is looking to get married and should not be something like watching video on demand. While "Shaadi Active" might have its advantages, it sure will have its disadvantages as well.
Would you like to sit with your family in front of a television and find your future life partner?
