I am writing some excerpt for the stories that I missed last week. Not that "oh my god I missed it" but something you might find it informative.

BSNL launched mobile radio services for its users. The service which enables its subscribers to listen to their favourite songs. Now the service is not free. Nothing comes free. The charges are Rs. 1 per minute or Rs. 25 per month. Subscribers have to dial 1255533 for accessing this service (via: The Hindu)

 

Post office department in India is doing all sorts of tasks now a days. Starting from collecting tax returns to booking railway tickets. Now Post Offices in Kerala are planning to accept Vodafone bills. Vodafone subscribers in Kerala can now pay their telephone bills at 1,300 post offices in Kerala. The tie-up with India Post is specially targeted at customers who prefer to pay in cash. With this facility, any Vodafone post-paid customer can pay their bills at any of the designated post offices anywhere in Kerala. (via: WebIndia123).

 

At the same time, Government is planning to install specially designed GramTells (Rural ATMs) or Kishan ATMs at post offices. (via: TOI)

 

Is it Wipro's desperation or future and forward thinking? Wipro Technologies has launched its Innovation Isle in Second Life, a popular virtual world internet site. Wipro is said to be the first Indian Company to establish a virtual brand presence. Those of you who don't know what is Second Life, you can read about it @ WikiPedia. Second Life is one of the fastest growing virtual world. Wipro is planning to collaborate with customers and partners, host virtual conferences and provide mutual platform to infuse innovation in technology and business through Second Life. Air Deccan launched the Tele check-in facility for all its passengers at all 65 destinations. Passengers who are flying to any destination on the Deccan network carrying only one cabin bag, can tele check-in from 24 hours upto two hours prior to the time of departure. Reliance Communications has become the first Indian telecom company to launch international data roaming that would provide internet connectivity to its users in their laptops and computers through their mobile phones while they are travelling in USA. So basically if you are using RCom and planning to travel to USA, you can use international data roaming and can access your emails, make calls or surf internet. (via: DNAIndia)
