My mom used to tell me that now a days, all you need is a computer and you don't need to buy anything else. You can watch TV on your computer, you can call people from your computer, you can pay your bills through your computer, you can play music on your computer, you can read news on your computer and etc etc et. Which is true if you think about it for a second. Provided that you have internet connection, which is common now a days.
Adding an item to the list above, now students don't need to buy their school textbooks but need to buy a computer. Tamil Nadu government has recently launched an online version of school textbooks prescribed for the primary, secondary and higher secondary shools in Tamil Nadu. The website has the complete contents of all the 322 textbooks from Class I to XII of the Tamil Nadu State Board. The text books are in PDF format.
This books are available for not only Tamil Nadu state students but also for other states and students living abroad. Also text books are divided into chapters (for faster download) and is available in English & Tamil language. This is a great move from Tamil Nadu State Board. I hope this would trigger other states board to launch their textbooks online.
