If you are in the market for buying an iPod touch, you might want to wait for a week or two. Looks like Apple "Refinery" is working on a new version or say.. new generation of iPod touch that will be announced in next week's press conferenc.

Speculations says that, the event is set for September 1 at the Yerba Buena Center for The Arts, in San Francisco. Apple CEO Steve Jobs is expected to lead the event.

So what to expect in the new iPod Touch?

Apple has always kept the iPhone and iPod touch almost similar. One for those who wants to pay monthly data plan and one for those who just want to pay for the device and not worry about monthly data charges. So based on that, we can see

  • iPod Touch will feature dual cameras—one rear facing and one that's forward facing
  • A front-facing camera would allow users to use Apple's FaceTime video conferencing app on the iPod Touch
  • We may see more storage capacity in the newer version of iPod touch.. may be 100GB? Who knows
  • We may see the iPod touch with Ratina Display
  • iPod touch may support DLNA? If that's the case, it would be a powerful mp3 player and will beat all the other mp3 players in the market. (You can kinda get a support for DLNA right now on iPod touch/iPhone using PlayOn)
So what else do you expect from the next generation of iPod Touch?
