Facebook gas registers a growth rate of 179 percent, from last year. Compared to facebook, Orkut has registered a growth of 16 percent only, with 19.9 million visitors frequenting the platform in July. Facebook and oRkut were followed by Bharatstudent with 4.4 million visitors and Twitter.com with 3.3 million visitors.
Membership on BharatStudent has registered a rise of 3 percent since last year. Yahoo! had its share of social networking too. Both the Yahoo social networking sites, the Yahoo Pulse and Yahoo Buzz, retained positions in the top ten list of social networking sites.
The comScore report collected its data from 33million internet visitors in India in July. The comScore survey was conducted in the age group above 15 years of age. Data from internet visits from cyber cafes, PDAs and mobile phones have been excluded from the report. This report places India seventh in the list of social networking access after the US, China, Germany, Russia, Brazil and UK. comScore Executive Vice President (Asia pacific) will Hodgman confirmed India as one of the fastest growing social networking hub. He added that although facebook has tripled its membership yet other small social networking sites made sizeable gains in term of membership too.
