Aliance Group, Rs. 4,400 crore company is planning to launch Real Estate TV. The company will invest Rs 100 crore to start country's first 24-hour real estate information channel.

The channel will provide latest updates on all aspects of real estate. This will include south and south-east asian region and Gulf states. Real Estate TV, a pan-India English-language channel was being put together under the guidance of media personality Sashi Kumar by a team of media professionals led by Chief Operating Officer T K Vibhaker, Namburu said. Global Broadcast News (GBN) on Thursday said it has ventured into the regional news space along with the Lokmat Group, with the launch of a 24-hour Marathi news and current affairs channel.

 

 

 

NDTV is also launching its first lifestyle channel "Life!" which is expected to go on air by July 2007. This fully Indian lifestyle channel in English, which aims to be aspirational, shall encompass everything an ideal lifestyle channel should possess – travel, leisure, luxury, adventure, partying, cuisine, health and wellness, and not to forget, hot gizmos – similar to Discovery Travel and Living. The channel would be launched through a 50:50 joint venture with the Lokmat Group, owners of a widely circulated daily Lokmat in Maharashtra, Global Broadcast informed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). The new channel would target the 'highly aware and conscious Marathi speaking' audience in Western India. The spotlight would be on the spirit of 'whatever it takes', the company said.  (DNA India)

MCCS is also launching its Marathi news channel soon. The channel will be named "STAR Maaja" according to AgencyFAQ. The channel will be a general news channel targeted at all strata and all age groups.

STAR Maaja will compete with Zee group's "Chauvees Tas" which is a 24 hours Marathi news channel launched early this year.

Thats lot of new channels. India already has hundreds of channels and this would add few more to the list. How one can even remember what to watch and when to watch. Its just crazy.
