UMPC should be able to serve as a mobile monitor

I have been dreaming to a 7-inch UMPC to get an appended HDMI / DVI input port, and it should be able to serve as a mobile monitor, then it can be used for outdoor. (a mini HDMI input port is in UMPC, but the cable extension connects to switch a DVI connecter). Its computing system can be suspended that during a mobile monitor mode running. Battery will obtain the more time at the run of the monitor.

Sometimes, I am very expecting with my camera or a HD camcorder to connect a 7-inch monitor (in the UMPC screen) to take watching live view, while the outdoors, that you not always to like operating a Windows OS.

Today, the more cameras or camcorders or portable media players have a HDMI output port, but we have not a portable 7-inch (or 8-inch) monitor as an available.

The UMPC needs some innovative things, and not a blind alley.

I have a Samsung Q1u, but its applied frequency is very low, because it is lacking the multiformity, as an UMPC. Usually, the UMPC is a thirdly device of the private computers, then it needs some different functions. (Desk-PC, Notebook, UMPC)

Some ideas wished for an UMPC in Q1u’s successor

The dual function to be available:
1. An UMPC mode.
2. A portable monitor mode, mini HDMI input. (Its computing system should be able to set suspended that during a mobile monitor mode running).

Screen:
7-inch (or 8-inch) but the ratio 16:10 would be better. I hope that Samsung Q1u’s successor would be a better color performance, and not a worse screen.

Samsung Q1u was having not bad screen that compared to the many mobile computers, and there the chromatic tone is basically correct, though that the screen is just a TN type. The color saturation is slightly deficient and the gray level is slightly worse, if it was compared to a high-level desktop monitor.

Contrarily, I have an IBM ThinkPad Z61t not a cheap price, its 14-inch screen is the damned color of the blueish tone, and it cannot get calibrated a well color result, which was away from sRGB criterion.

Hardware:
Processor, Intel SU7400 or a dual core Atom is at least, (Intel will release a dual core Atom for the mobile computer).
Memory, 2GB (for a 32bit x86 OS).
HDD, 1.8-inch 120GB or a higher capacity.

Software:
32-bit Windwos OS must get supported, and not a rumour said that only an Android OS.

About Q1u User Interface:
Q1u the left side’s joystick/mouse and dialkey, the right side’s programmable d-pad (up/down scroll and forward back + Enter key) and L/R mouse buttons, these are very helpful design, it is indispensably.

But I think that the underside of the left side dialkey button, here should add two buttons to be the user-defined use. Also, joystick/mouse seems right side would be better, but the Enter key can be left side. The left-hand thumb is a little less flexible than the right-hand thumb.

In Q1u, soybean-shaped keyboard did not aim at a large number of text tasks, it is convenient for outdoors in the order to browse. Usually, a large number of text tasks would not be the outdoor work. In the outdoors, I have been using soybean-shaped keyboard to operate the image viewer, especially the Esc, Ctrl, Space, Shift.

The joystick/mouse and dialkey, up/down scroll and forward back + Enter key and L/R mouse buttons, the soybean-shaped keyboard, makes operating the image viewer would get more convenient, while you were in outdoors.

Some the sound complained to the Q1u keyboard, maybe that did not reflect the actual users.

I would not buy an Apple iPad, which does not meet with my requirement, and a 10-inch (4:3) is also a little large.
