Ford President and CEO Alan Mulally unveiled a new small car in India today. At an event in the city of Delhi, Mulally said production of the Ford Figo will begin next year.

The Figo will be manufactured at Ford’s plant near Chennai, India. Ford is investing $500 million to double the annual production of that plant to 200,000 units.The Figo is a new nameplate for Ford.

The Figo four-door hatchback car is based on a small-car platform Ford uses for a version of the Ford Fiesta it sells in India, but is different from a platform used to produce the Ford Fiesta in Europe.

Apart from first engine, the other engine is 1.4 litre Duratorq diesel. This engine is also installed in Fiesta, Ikon, Fusion, albeit, but some modifications are needed to make it BS-IV compliant. The engine does not offer much power like its rivals, but has the capacity to provide 68 bhp @ 4000rpm and 160Nm @2000rpm. However, Figo is quite comfortable and easy to drive than other diesel engine cars in its range. Ford Figo has high fuel efficiency, but do not have turbo lag. In fact, one will not even feel of kicking-in the turbo.

i am intrested in figo diesel if it has got the same tdci engine it will be of great success of ford.
