The students of Sharda University may use the smart card as an identity, banking, library, lab, health, mess, fees, academic record, sports, internet, attendance and examination entrance card.

On the launch of the smart card, Dr RP Singh, V-C, Sharda University said, “We are working on University Beyond Boundaries assumption which aims at providing world-class academic facilities to the students. So far students had to use different cards for different facilities.

Now the smart card will save the students’ time and energy. Also there will be less chances of mistake or confusion on administrative level by using just one card for all the purposes.”

There is a centralised system on Sharda University campus that provides a unique identification to each and every student. With help of biometric technology the smart card will work on the basis of the unique identification of every student. The smart card will cost Rs 250 and it will look similar to an ATM or credit card. A US company will manufacture the smart cards for Sharda University students.
