Looks like the prayers of millions of mobile and landline users are heard. The government has approved the national integrated directory services (NIDQS) for mobile and fixed wireline services. Department of telecom (DoT) has approved all the recommendations made by telecom regulatory Trai for mobile number directory. The only exception is that of offering only one licence for providing directory services.
Customers will have a five digit number to call for inquiring about any phone number in the country. Trai
had earlier suggested a mobile directory for both pre-paid and post-paid customers. The integrated directory would be accessible via SMS too.
