Must Have Applications For Windows Mobile Phones

I have been using my Motorola Q phone for the last two years and I must say, I am really happy with the phone and the windows mobile 5 operating system. In last two years, I found out so many windows mobile applications and tested quite many of them. After looking at all those applications, I came up with the list of applications that a normal phone user should install on his/her windows mobile powered phones. This list can also apply for any other mobile phones as long as the application is available on that mobile phone platform.

1. Google Search App - Google launched its Google Mobile app last month for its Windows Mobile phone users. The application has a neat features and gives an easy to navigate interface to search and launch other google application from the home screen on your windows mobile phones. This application includes Google Maps and Youtube for your windows Mobile phones. So if you are a youtube fan, you are covered for your youtube hunger. Watch all you want. m.google.com

2. Windows Live - I may not be a biggest lover of Windows or Microsoft but I must say, Microsoft have given a nice Windows Live application for Windows Mobile phones. My hotmail account is synched upto the minute and the moment I send a message, it actually sends it to the recipient. You don't have to setup a schedule to send/receive every 15 minutes etc. It also syncs up your contacts (if you want. I normally don't sync it up as my hotmail contacts are not that upto date). It also gives you a messenger on your mobile.

3. Live Search - This is my favourite. I would prefer this over Google Maps. Live Search for windows mobile actually gives you weather, gas prices, movies etc information for your local area as well as it gives you point of interests in categorised format for your local city/town. It can also use your phone's inbuilt GPS (if you have one) to give you a turn by turn directions.(not with the voice though).

4. Skyfire - This is also one of my favourite. Everyone knows that Windows Mobile's pocket IE is not at all the best browser in the market. I know there is Opera for mobile but its not free and gives you only free trial for 30 days after that you are back to your pocket IE. SKyfire on the other hand is free and only requires you to register to their site. Once registered, you can download it for free. The browser support all the rich media on the web. Good thing about Skyfire is that you can actually watch streaming windows media files on your windows mobile phone with Skyfire for free. Check out How I Watch Live Indian TV On Mobile Free. 5. Fring - If you are into instant messaging and making Voice Over IP calls, Fring is the must have application for your windows mobile phone. Fring enables users to talk and chat using Skype, ICQ, Google Talk, MSN Messenger / Windows Live Messenger, AIM, Yahoo Messenger and SIP providers. So if you are using any VoIP setup at your home phone, you can configure the same SIP settings into your Windows Mobile phone and can make and receive Voice Over IP calls from your mobile phone. If you are using Gizmo5, you can receive the phone calls on your mobile for free. Fring.com

6. Skype - One of the most popular VoIP application. Recently Skype launched its version 3.0 beta for Windows Mobile phones. I don't have to explain the use of Skype. Its basically all your skype features will be available to you on your windows mobile powered phones. Skype/windowsmobile

7. Mundu Radio - If you are like me and loves to listen to radio while working or traveling, Mundu Radio is the best application for your windows mobile phone. Recently they released the Windows Mobile version 1.0.13 which is a complete new look. I am right now listening to Mundu Radio and let me tell you.. its just amazing. Mundu.com

8. Dashwire - This one is the most important. Few days back my Moto Q died on me. No matter what I do, it just didn't turn on. I charged it over night, restarted few times, replaced the battery but nothing. So I thought of Hard Reset. It actually wipes out all the data/contacts and resets your phone to factory default. So thankfully, I was using Dashwire. It is an application that syncs your contacts, photos, videos, bookmarks, ringtones, call history, speed dials etc online. So if something happens to your phone, you can resync it with your online account. Check out how you can Synchronizing Your Mobile Online For FREE
