As youa all know major currencies of the world e.g. US Dollar, Pound Sterling, Yen and the Euro have an Identification symbol. That is not the case with Indian Rupee. It is always referred to as INR or Rs. Now Indian Government wants to change it and wants people of India to participate in the competition to design the Symbol of Indian Currency (INR).
You can read more about the guidelines and other rules for the competition at finmin.nic.in
if you are interested in designing the Symbol for Indian Rupee, you will have to send your entries, along with a bank draft of Rs.500/- (Rupees five hundred only). First five entries will be selected and each will be rewarded with Rs. 25,000/-. Final winner will receive the price of Rs 250,000.
What I don't understand is, why government is asking for money from the people who are willing to participate in the competition?
Updates: Design submitted by Soumen Das..
I kind of like it but didn't like the swastika in the symbol. Many countries confuses the Swastika with the Nazzi symbol and we don't want our country to mis-represent in the world.
