Income Tax Department Gets New Website
Our Indian Income Tax Department now is getting new website. Indian Income Tax Department is taking proud of changing their role from that of a rule enforcement agency to one of a service provider to taxpayers.
The Revenue Secretary, Mr P.V. Bhide urged the department to treat the “honest taxpayer” with the courtesy that he deserves. They have launched a new website IncomeTaxIndiaPR.gov.in but the site doesn't open up.
Is it just me or someone else is also having trouble opening up those government sites? It just takes forever to open one page and after each click I have to wait for a minute or two.
What's the point of having new sites if it takes forever to load?
Updates: The site loads fine now. I guess I caught them in middle of downtime/upgrade.
The new website has basically the same functionality as the old one but with a new icons and images. I didn't see any drastic change in the new site. The site provides links to apply for your PAN/TAN card online, track your income tax refund status, Check your Challan Status. It also provides links/forms to fill out your returns/TDS returns etc.
