DVR, Digital Video Recorder or personal video recorder (PVR) is a device that records video in a digital format to a disk drive. DVR allows viewers to record programmes in one channel while watching another and play according to convenience.
Indian will soon be able to have the luxury of DVR and record their favourite shows. Dish TV and TataSky plan to introduce DVR technology around Diwali.
"Our launch of DVR is expected around Diwali and our offer will have 140 hours of recording time," Dish TV Chief Operating Officer Salil Kapoor said, adding the set top boxes for the DVR were expected to cost around Rs 10,000 each.
While Dish TV and Tata Sky are planning to launch their DVR technology, Big TV and Airtel DTH is also planning to launch DVR technology for their DTH services.
