Rajan Bhagat, ACP, PRO, Delhi Police, stated that Delhi Traffic Police (DTP) has been working on this innovation over a period of time and has finally done it. He noted that response to this initiative is awesome.

Who is actually responsible for this service? No individual is response for this but a group of people who update on twitter and Facebook. They use information they gather from helplines and road users. Internet users also endlessly update with tweets of the details of what is going-on on the road, reported Joint Commissioner of Traffic, Satyendra Garg.

The police depend largely on road users’ reports. Bhagat believes that with firsthand information from commuters, jams can quickly be cleared.The people of Delhi have shown a lot of interest. Delhiites on Facebook are above 3500 and ‘dtptraffic’ on Twitter has 661 users.

DTP also has recorded and responded to a number of traffic facilities complaints like that of Aryaman Dubey who complained of non-functional red light in his area.Also, DTP has recorded suggestions from users
