Sony has been planning to explore the extra dimension i.e. the 3 D, in televisions. 3 D tv is going to be a boost in thrust of Sony's marketing. It plans to work with Discovery and IMAX on this first full time 3D TV network.

Sony will release three series of television sets with 3D capability in 2010 with 40-60 inch screens. It uses a 3D system which is a combination of a 3D transmitter and special glasses which carries out the processing work.

It's said that it'll have many buyers but the price of the glasses matters in larger families. All the three partners will be contributing to provide and acquire programme.

Meanwhile Sony's chairman  Howard Stringer quoted that “We are the only company fully immersed in every part of the 3D value chain”. It is to be noted that, Discovery will be looking after the TV pat with Sony to sponser and IMAX to enhance pictures for 3D telecasting.

Another important thing to be noted is that Sony is also working on cameras with 3D filming technology!
