Google Art Project is a project to bring museums and art galleries from around the world at one place where people from all over the world can walk through. The project was launched on 1 February 2011 by Google, and includes works from USA, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Russia and many other countries.
Today Google Art Project brought India to the list of Museums and Art Gallery under its wing. You can now virtually walk around the National Museum of Delhi & National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi using Google Maps.
Some of the features of Google Art Project
Using tools called Explore and Discover, you can find artworks by period, artist or type of artwork, displaying works from different museums around the world.
- From within the Gallery, you can create Google Hangouts and talk to your friends about the piece of art.
- You can get a 360-degree view of the Gallery using Google Art Project as if you are literally there.
- Google has used “gigapixel” photo capturing technology to bring high resolution images so you can study details of the brushwork and patina that would be impossible to see with the naked eye.
- And if you like some of those work from Art Gallery, you can save those into "My Gallery".
