This is not official yet but I found a hack which worked out pretty neat. Google Maps APIs allows you to change the map controls, tooltips, and copyrights for a subset of languages. Though Hindi is not included in the list of supported languages, changing one parameter in the script tag now lets you see Google Map controls in Hindi.
Since Google launched Hindi translation services, I thought that they would have their i18n stuff in place. So in my google map APIs test page, I change the javascript URL to something like below.
And as I suspected, it worked like a charm. Check out the screen shots below. So if you have a google maps app for Indian users, you can now give them an option to change the map language to Hindi.
