One of the India’s top telecom company Reliance Communications is now targeting rural and semi-urban areas for its low cost wireless internet services. Reliance has lowered the rate of its USB stick modem (Reliance Netconnect) to an affordable 1099/- in order to attract more customers. Besides the decrease of the price of its USB modem, Reliance is also offering “City Unlimited” which is an unlimited Internet browsing Plan at a very affordable Rs 169/-. The unlimited tariff plan of Rs 169 is available for prepaid user throughout the country. This plan is not available in the top 1000 cities of the country.

This plan is meant to increase the number of internet users in the rural and semi urban India by giving them access to low cost internet. This is going to increase the number of internet users in the rural areas. Also within the same city ‘City Unlimited’ will provide unlimited data usage and High speed wireless internet access to a maximum of 153 kbps. City Unlimited’ is currently available over 1700 STD codes selected by Reliance.

‘City Unlimited’ is designed to attract students, Housewives, Small or medium business owners as it provide high speed unlimited internet usage at very affordable rates. City Unlimited allows the user to do a large range of use of the internet from browsing to downloading applications.

This move will allow Reliance Communications to gain an edge over its rival Telecom providers and become the top internet provider in India.
