India has failed to win a single match in the entire tour of England. They were drubbed 0-4 in the tests and now they have finished the one day series yesterday at 0-3. This is probably one of the worst overseas tours by India, particularly after becoming the World Cup Champions in April and with such a strong batting side. The fall to the depths has been very hard and it must be hurting very badly. India has dropped to fifth place in the latest ICC one-day rankings. This is their lowest position in the last three years.
This has been a very disappointing summer for the Indian cricket team called `Team India’. India has also slipped from the first place to the third place in the Test rankings as well. England, on the other hand, has gone up to the top spot in Tests and has gone up to the fourth position in one–day rankings.
The misery has ended for India yesterday on an even miserable note. Both the series being washouts, India has suffered eight smearing defeats. The injuries depleted the side undoubtedly but the excuses will be thin as India holds sufficient bench strength to back up. Zaheer Khan’s tour ended on the first day itself of the first test which was a landmark test between both the countries.
Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli performed along with Mahendra Singh Dhoni but that was not sufficient enough for the finishing line. It is time for the BCCI and Duncan Fletcher to sit and reflect rather than take interest in milking the IPL cash cow.
