I remeber when MakeMyTrip.com started back in 2005, they were really aggresive and happy about their service. And to be frank, it was unique in India as no body started something like that before in India. That time, Expedia.com was pretty famous and well reputed travel portal in western countries. So the Deep Kalra, founder and chief executive officer, MakeMyTrip was claiming that "We are Expedia for India". Well not any more.

In a recent article on {ln:nw:http://www.livemint.com/2007/10/17235052/Expedia-Travelocity-ready-Ind.html 'LiveMint}, Sharat Dhall, managing director of Expedia India mentioned that Expedia is soon launching its services in India. I checked the domain name expedia.co.in. It is registered by Expedia Inc with and was actually registered back in 2005. The last update date is like June of this year. So I am sure there is something going on from Expedia for its India launch.

Today, somehow I landed @ Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport website. I am sure the site was not available till March this year. I looked at the "WayBack" machine and couldn't find the site's existance before March 2007. Whatever it is, but I was really impressed by the website.

First of all, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport itself is getting modernized. When I looked at the picture of the airport on WikiPedia, I was shocked. They have done a real good job. Now I feel like it is an international airport. Last time when I visited the airport, it was worst than Indian Railway Stations.

I see Indian Government Departments working together now a days. Specially Post Offices in India are now going out of their boundaries and doing Income Tax Filing, Passport Applications and now Railway Ticket Booking. I think after this "email" era, post office staff should get some work right?

Railway Ministry and the Department of Posts yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding for providing railway ticket booking services at the post offices.

This service will be available in 30 places across the country initially. The Postal Department would use computerized Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters to issue tickets.
