Nokia has launched a new smartphone with its special attraction being a 41 mega pixel camera. It is 808 PureView. This new smartphone was announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It is expected to be launched in May in Europe and will cost 450 Euros.

With the 41 mega pixel camera, the phone will be able to shoot images that can be printed in poster size. Files can condense about four or five pixels into one and Nokia feels that they are smaller than similar products from competition.

The camera has a Carl Zeiss lens that shoots in continuous focus with high definition video at 1080 pixels. The company’s engineers had been working on this smartphone camera for many years now. This technology is likely to be used in other Nokia products in the coming years.

Though the smartphone is larger than the ones that have been taken out by Nokia’s competitors, it is still sized to fit in pockets rather than replace a full size camera. The smartphone will use a 1.3 GHz processor and it will come with 16GB of storage. It will have a four inch screen with a resolution of 360x640.

There are some other features of the smartphone that are going to be interesting. It runs Symbian instead of Windows Phone 7. Nokia says that this phone is going to be for people who take and share good pictures.
