Live Traffic & Voice Guided Directions In India On Google Maps

Driving directions in India was like a dream 7 years back. Companies like MapMyIndia changed the way we look at Indian maps and they have line of products that you can use for In-car driving directions in India.

Earlier Yahoo launched driving directions, RouteGuru launched Indian style driving directions and Reliance BigMaps also lauhced Driving Directions services for India. But Google Maps has gone one step ahead and brought live traffic information for Indian roads for major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and many more.

Google Maps (beta) in India has launched a new service that includes voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation and live traffic updates for Indian cities. The application is free and accessible to any smartphone user running Android 2.2 or later, and live traffic information is visible on both the mobile and desktop versions of Google Maps.

So next time when you try to make a trip, fireup your browser and look at your route's traffic to estimate your journey time. If you are using a smartphone, you can turn on the Google Maps app and your phone will announce upcoming directions to you as you move along your route. Tt will even use a friendly and familiar Indian accent if you’ve selected the Indian English locale on in your phone settings.

You can type or even speak the name or address of your favorite destination into the app and trust that Google will correct your spelling and get you the right result. Android smartphones always has access to Google’s most up-to-date map data so you don't have to worry about updating the maps. If you are data concious, you can even save your maps or regions of maps for offline use.
