We have moved from bicycle to scooters to cars, moved from telegram to telephone to cellphones and from messenger to post to emails. Technology is evolving so fast that now audio cassette tapes are now hardly visible in music stores. Audio CDs have taken the place of cassette tapes and slowly audio CDs are being replaced with online digital mp3s. Many of you might say, oh those good old days, I still have my few cassette tapes that I really love.
Well you don't have to ditch your cassette tapes for new age music. You can still convert your good old cassette tapes into MP3 files which can be copied into your MP3 player or can be converted into Audio CD. It just takes little bit of time and proper resources and you can too on your own convert your cassette tapes into MP3s. So let's walk through the steps on how you can convert it.
As you can tell, to convert cassette tapes into MP3, we have to first play those cassette into its player and then connect its audio output into a computer audio in. Once we do the connect, we need a software that can detect the audio in and can record it into digital format.
TechnoFriends has described these steps for Windows machines.
1.) First things first, you need to have your Cassette and the Tape Recorder.
2.) You would also need a cable with double jacks for audio out from your recorder to audio in of your computer.
3.) Insert the cable to the Audio Out port of your Cassette player and insert the other end of the jack into the Mic input slot for Audio In.
4.) Download SuperMP3Recorder software to help you with the recording. There are many other recording softwares too. If you are using MAC, you can use dMC. It is freeware with restricted functionality. It can automatically tell when the song has ended based on the change in volume and then start recording to a new mp3.
Set the bitrate to 192KBps.
5.) Select atleast 192KBps bitrate from the MP3 Options under the Settings menu.
6.) Once you have configured the settings, press Record button on SuperMP3Recorder and then play the cassette tape on the player.
7.) Your audio is now getting converted to MP3 format.
Once you have your MP3s, you can then use any audio editing software to add tags and other information to your mp3s.
