Indian Television is booming like anything recently. Looks like Indian television industry is competing with bollywood blockbusters and as a result Indian television stars are treated like celebrities. They have their own awards functions, their own celebrity statuses etc. We have already seen big stars now coming to small screen.
Now not only big stars but producers and directors are now eyeing on Indian television industry. The recent example is Yash Raj. According to AgencyFAQ, Yash Raj Films (YRF) is planning to launch a general entertainment channel (GEC) by the second half of 2008.
As they are saying, the content of the Yash Raj Films channel will be different from the typical Saas-bahu shows and will include programming such as reality shows, issue oriented shows, human interest stories etc. Oh I know what Yash Raj Films channel will show!! All the switzerland shootings, lover boy SRK and all the same crap that we see in his movies.
Another updates from the Indian television industry includes Channel eight, a Kolkata based production house, plans to launch a general entertainment channel for the Bengali market under the banner of Bangla Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
Recently launched channels 9X and Bindaas are penetrating pretty fast into cable homes. AgencyFAQ reports that channels like Star Utsav, Sahara One, SAB TV, Sony TV, MTV and Channel V are loosing their viewership to these channels. Those of you who doesn't know about these channels can watch the serials from these channels on Muft.tv.
Is Indian television industry going in right direction? Do we have Indian television shows that are worth watching? I still don't see anything except those dirty saas-bahu-nanand drama on Indian television channels.
Do you know if you are living outside India, you can still Watch Indian Television Channels online for free.
