BBC launches its Beta iPlayer, an online service that allows people to download programmes from the last week. Viewers can choose from 400 hours of programmes, between 60 and 70 percent of the total TV output, including hit shows such as "EastEnders, "Doctor Who" and "Planet Earth".
This service is free and will allow people in Britain to download these shows on their computers. These computers should have Microsoft XP operating system as a requirement. People won't be able to save these downloaded copies permanently as these clips will be automatically deleted after viewing or after 30 days. (via:CIOL)
BBC iPlayer claims to have 15,000 users so far and are expecting this number to increase gradually. The site provides an option for new users to register. Once registered, you will be notified or invited to complete your registration and become an iPlayer user.
