In 2005 and 2007, UK magazine Eastern Eye named Basu the "Sexiest Woman in Asia.

Miss beautiful sex icon of Bollywood, Bipasha Basu has broken all the records of all the bollywood actresses today and stood up to her "Sex icon" tag.  The Sex icon Bipasha Basu  posed for the Playboy Columbia April 2011 magazine. Little did she know that the internet would spread Bipasha Basu’s playboy magazine images in India too.  It sounds strange but Bipsasa Basu has bared it all for American Playboy magazine. As such there is no official statement from Playboy side about such launch, but we got our hands on the front page of Bipasha Basu’s Playboy magazine. Internal sources confirm this act.

Now if we analyze the story bit more, we know that Bipasa has done a similar act where she posed somewhat uncensored in the New York State’s Lottery commercial with Vivek Oberoi. The year 2010 was not really lucky for Bipasha Basu, as her last release ‘Aakrosh’ wasn’t received good response in the theatres. Now whether this is a marketing strategy for her upcoming film “Dum Maru Dum” or she is really the one who breaks the ice for bollywood divas to pose for Playbooy that's up for grab.
