If you happened to own a newer LED/LCD HDTVs in India, here is something for you to enjoy. Atleast now you can fully utilize or enjoy your HD Television sets.

Indian television viewers will get to experience movies in High Definition (HD) in their own homes. Times Television Network is launching its new Hollywood movies channel called Movies Now in HD. The channel promises to bring Hollywood movies in High Definition content with 5.1 HD surround sound.

The channel will kick off with Hollywood blockbusters: Die Hard 4 and X-Men.

"MOVIES NOW will give its viewers a whole new experience with stunning pictures in 1080i and awesome 5.1 surround sound. Viewers will get to watch the best of 'Hollywood in HD' for the first time in India," said Vineet Jain, managing director of Bennett Coleman & Company , which owns the Times Group .

The channel will be available on direct-to-home (DTH) platforms throughout the country and will successfully bring the multiplex experience right into your homes.

The first movie that would go on air is Jumper then Dr. Horton Hears Who then Ice Age and then Baby's Day Out. Checkout some screen shots of the Movies Now Schedule, list of movies that you would be available on the Times Now's Movies Now HD channel.

Updates: Once you visit the website, you can check out the details of the movies, complete re-runs date and time for the movie on Movies Now and you can also choose to receive SMS reminder for your favorite movie on Movies Now. Once you select to receive the SMS reminder, MoviesNow will ask your mobile number and email address for the reminder.     please stop repeat telecast of same movie hundred times, its too boring to watch same movie again and again, no matter how good that movie is.

    hi, I am watching this channel on dish tv true HD set top box with sony LCD and onkyo home theater, I am impressed with HD quality of movies, I am sure it gives 1080i ( please note i stands for interlaced format) and 5.1 is also sure there when the home theater is set on THX, DTS, Neo:6 cinema, thearter dimensional or dolby PL11move logic .. make sure you are using high quality HDMI cables and optical audio cables for 5.1 and enjoy the movies !!!!
