Last month, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICAAN), a non-profit body responsible for assigning Web addresses to users, approved the proposal to use non-Latin scripts, which is expected to transform the Internet landscape.
Domain names are entered in the address bar of the browser to access a Web-site. The domain name provides a unique identity and on clicking on a given domain name, the Web page of the particular site opens up.
Currently, Internet addresses are limited to Latin characters from ‘A' to ‘Z'. But India has done a lot of preparatory work and are now ready to have domain names in Hindi.
India will be ready to have internationalised domain names (IDN) on the internet in Hindi by June next year. So be ready to type in the hindi domain names in your address bars.. हिन्दी.कॉम or भारत.कॉम
