US-based Shelby Super Car (SSC), has decided to launch the car in Mumbai in the next few months and follow it up with a Delhi launch, said a person working on the launch who asked not to be named.

The Aero is produced only in the US which costs around $654,400 (more than Rs 3 crore). But because of India's high import duties, Indian buyers might pay as much as double the price. The Mercedes-Benz Maybach, currently the costliest car sold in India, is priced around Rs 5 crore.

So what's big deal about the SSC's Ultimate Aero Fastest Car?

Instead of the supercharged, 787 bhp, 6.2-litre V8 engine, they fitted a a higher boost supercharger and got a Veyron-topping 1,046 bhp. Still not content, the 2007 Ultimate Aero picked up a "Turbo" badge and a few more horses as well. Now producing 1,183 bhp, the Turbo becomes the most powerful emissions-legal production automobile in the world.

The car is built of lightweight titanium and carbon fibre material to minimise weight. The two-seater, butterfly door (up sky-folding) car runs only on premium unleaded 91 high octane petrol, which is now available in some of India’s largest cities.

Where the original Aero promised a top speed of 240 mph, the new Ultimate has had a few weight saving touches to go with its power upgrade and its top end has risen to a projected 273 mph.

So lets get to some numbers with this speed..

• Considering the distance between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is 545 km, With Ultimate Aero, you can drive to Ahmedabad from Mumbai in just 1.5 hours.
• You can reach from Mumbai to Pune in just 15 to 20 minutes
• Mumbai to Bangalore can be reached in 2.5 hours..

All of the above is possible only if we have such roads and traffic conditions..LOL
