Women are in the lead here, being 58% out of those 54%. Around 66% of such employees are under twenty four years of age.
The survey was conducted by Mercer’s among more than two thousand employees in the country. This kind of survey has also been conducted in sixteen other markets on a global level among twenty eight thousand employees covering Information Technology and its enabled services, pharmaceutical concerns, insurance, banking and manufacturing sectors.
As economy is on the slight move upwards in India, new job opportunities are cropping up and employers are facing the risk of losing their talented personnel, continuing to face morale and productivity issues among the workers who continue to be with the company. The survey has concluded that the top priority for the employees is advancement in their careers followed by a rise in their basic salaries as well as opportunities for training and development. This is a considerable jump from the last survey done in 2004 when only 26% of the employees expressed their plans to change their jobs. The companies will have to go back to their conference rooms and work out a strategy not only to keep their employees but also to help them grow.
