Chinese Sina, web based micro-blogging service which was launched in August 2009 on the lines of Twitter, Today it crossed the limit of 100 million online users.

According to Site operator, growth is remarkable with huge registered users surpassing the mark of 100 million. It shows the growing popularity of Micro-blogging culture at China.

Twitter, the world’ No 1 micro-blogging site & No. 2 Social Networking was earlier blocked by Chinese authority because of Anti-governmental tweets. Later, censorship issue had evolved with Google and so on. Afterwards, both went under declining statues in the growth. Google also stopped its searching site & transferring searches to Hong Kong based engine. The rise of Sina, embarks the new forefront of Chinese micro-blogging market. Official numbers‘re not too much, but expected to grow more soon.

As per as latest statistics, total 457 million Internet users in China. Chinese Sina is also among the most visited sites in the country, currently offers link to news & media services. With this gaining popularity, operators may be planning to improve the services & add extra value added services. Sources say, Sina will soon start experimenting revenue generating-sharing model. As still priority is popularity more than monetizing, Sina's new version will launched in near future.

Sina equally gets dual advantage of Twitter’s blockage at Chinese territory, since Twitter has been blocked in China following anti-government movements. Twitter’s blockage helped a lot in the success of Sina’s micro-blogging service.

"We have successfully built Sina microblog Weibo into the largest and most influential social media platform in China," said Sina CEO Charles Chao in a statement on Wednesday. (PC World)

Market experts say the move is an attempt by the Chinese government to trample the discussion related to the anti-government protests that have occurred in the Middle East. In China, Govt specially focuses on internal developments, outside outrages are blocked. Internet is also somewhat like that, most of anti-government or other public forums are blocked.
