There are ten kinds of good food that can get you through a flight. Food is definitely a solution to calming your nerves in this holiday season. The food dished out by the airlines is not so healthy. Instead, try and take these foods with you to tackle stress and jetlag.

You can ease stress with

  1. Oranges – Vitamin C helps reduce stress. Oranges will lower your blood pressure as well as your stress levels.
  2. Walnuts – They have the Omega-3 fatty acids in them and they keep your stress hormones and your adrenaline in check.
  3. Almonds and Sunflower Seeds – You can say goodbye to jetlag with this combination. Almonds are high in melatonin. It regulates the chemicals in your body and makes you feel alert. They will help orient your body between your internal clock and unfamiliar time zones.
  4. Bananas – They also pump you with melatonin and can prevent muscle cramping from seats that have cramped leg room. Bananas give you high muscle potassium and lower levels of these trigger cramps.
  5. Chicken Burger – You can fight motion sickness with this. This is ideal pre-travel and protein rich. You will feel less nauseous when you eat a chicken burger.
  6. Ginger Ale – This will help to digest your food. It also helps with motion sickness. It is perfect for stomach pains.
  7. Dark Chocolate - Bitter and sweet cocoa will brighten your mood because it contains anadamine that gives you a cosy and euphoric feeling.
  8. Apples – They will fight extreme high and low situations that can come about with sugar rushes. Apples are rich in fibre and they will keep your blood sugar levels under control.
  9. Raisins – They are ideal for altitude sickness.  They have a calming effect.
  10. Carrots – The tough skin of the carrot helps fight high blood pressure and reduces the stress hormone levels.
