And there you go, another Social Networking site in the list of "Indian Social Network". I wonder why seventymm is going side track. Shouldn't it just focus on its dvd rental business? Or may be its not doing good because of so called "Pirated movies" market and now trying its hands on the so called "social networking" cake. Oh well!

SeventyMM just got revamped with new tagline called "Hangout with movies". Why this change? Well here is something in their own words "Now that we are already delivering your daily dose of entertainment to your doorsteps, we thought that it would be more fun if we expanded our scope of work. Now Masti at Seventymm™ doesn’t stop at just watching movies, you can do much more… we have expanded the canvas for you to discover, enjoy, share and indulge in the world of movies."

So basically SeventyMM now makes social networking debut with so called "Hangout clubs". You can just sign in and indulge by taking the quiz or creating one, rating movies, starting a club, testing your movie compatibility with your friends or simply read more about the movies and review them. But wait a minute, why do I feel like DejaVu?

Oh I know why, just last week I got an email from Ashish Baldua, Co-founder of CitiPals.com (a portal which provides city related information). The email was to inform me about their new "feature" called "MovieMatch", which lets a user rate/review a set of 25 movies from 5 categories. You can then compare your tastes with your friends, or any other user for that matter.

SeventyMM has now added a so called feature "Compatibility Test" which does the very exact thing like MovieMatch. Few more features under "Fun Stuff" category are Quiz book, Create/Join clubs, Meet People etc etc. SeventyMM now provides users their own hangout page where they can see their social networking activies like scraps, latest friends, videos and stuff. The site has now added forums, gallery, E-news and couple other categories and now it basically is a portal then just a DVD rental website.

What do you guys have to say about this revamp? I would love to hear your comments on this one.

Updates: Just came across this post {ln:nw:http://www.contentsutra.com/entry/419-avnish-bajaj-says-social-networking-is-a-waste-of-time-in-india '@contentSutra}. Mr. Avnish Bajaj is saying that Social Networking is 'A Waste of Time'. Guess what? Their company has been investing in SeventyMM.com and now Seventymm.com is on Social Networking path. Now what Avnish Bajaj has to say about that? huh?
