USA is planning for a memorial for the tenth year of 9/11. The names of the 9/11 victims will be listed on the World Trade Center 9/11 Memorial. A new website was unveiled that displays the final arrangements.

Conventional memorial design dictates that names are listed alphabetically or chronologically. That makes people easy to find, but tends to dilute the meaning that attaches to affinity. With this new program, bands of brothers, families, and co-workers, can be remembered as part of a group that meant the world to them in life and united them in death.

Check out the image below that will show you how the groups of names will be listed on the south pole.

A website names.911memorial.org provides the list of names in those groups. You can also visit the site and search for the names who lost their lives in 9/11. In other words, the police officers will be grouped with other police officers, the firefighters with other firefighters, the stock traders with other stock traders, and so on. It took a computer algorithm to figure out this grouping, and it was done to “reflect friends and co-workers”. In short, it is a way of remembering a loved one in the group that he or she associated with in life.

So if you happened to visit the 9/11 Memorial this year on September 11, 2011, you might want to look for your loved ones based on their group.
