Olympics Medals By Country On the Map

Olympics 2008 has only two days to go and people have started creating innovative applications to show history of Olympics. Did you know that Indian Hockey team has won total 8 gold medals in Olympics? From 1928 to 1980, Indian Hockey team has won total of 11 Olympics medals which includes 8 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. From 1928 to 1956, the Indian men's team remained unbeaten in the Olympics, garnering six gold medals in a row.

And India is crazy about cricket... How many world cups Indian cricket team has won so far? ONLY 1? Anyways.. I just found this interesting Map which shows gold medals won by countries on a map by year. Its a nice interactive application. Once you click on the country for a particular year, it shows details of the medals and sport games.

On the side note, I found this funny Beijing 2008 Logo animation GIF which actually makes fun of "How China came up with its Olympics 2008 Logo". Its just an image I got it from email forward..so no offense.
