The research surveyed 6,800 mobile users aged 16-49 and covered all network technology types in 15 countries globally, including India. The study notes that only 18 per cent of camera phones are used for MMS/video viewing.
Definitions of MMS on the Web:
- Multimedia Messaging Service. MMS is a new standard that is being defined for use in advanced wireless terminals. The service concept is derived from Short Message Service and allows for non-real-time transmission of various kinds of multimedia contents like images, audio, video clips, etc. As a further evolution of the current text mail, for example, electronic postcards, audio/video clips, etc. can be sent.www.cellglide.com/glossarym.shtml
Is this really the use of MMS in India??
If you're thinking about switching from your current cell phone provider out several wireless plans before making your final choice.
Who uses MMS in India for simply sending electronic postcards or audio?? What I found online is mostly MMS Scandals.
Try searching in google "MMS Scandals" and your page will flood with Indian sites. You all must remember the video of Mallika Sherawat’s alleged look-alike having sex with a white man has spread so fast and so famously that cell phones are emerging as the future of slander.
Also few years back, the clip of a schoolgirl being nice to her boyfriend, shot by a phone camera, found its way to auction site baazee.com. Photographs of unsuspecting girls bathing or in various stages of nudity are regularly passed on from phone to phone as fast as chain mails.
There are so many indian sites (Debonairblog.com just to name one) which offer these MMS scandals to its users. Not only that but also provides facilities to upload your own MMS clips (mostly scandals) or send it to their server and publish it on their website.
Such images are taken for fun or to get back at a girl who probably rejected the boy. It’s a cause of concern. So many innocent people are getting their reputation spoiled just because some idiots wants to have fun.
I remember the quote from Spiderman
"With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility" --Uncle Ben
Do you think we are using these power with great responsiblity? And they are saying that its time for 3G phones. Are we ready for 3G technology in India ?
This is the question to Indian Mobile users. MMS is Blessing or Curse?
