Information Madness

There is no doubt about Google being No. 1 search engine in the world (Except China I guess). Most of the websites or blog heavily rely on Google's organic search traffic and that includes Information Madness. Last week of April, Information Madness saw a huge traffic lift and crossed almost 5000/visitors per day. Its not that huge traffic but for me, it was huge. Each and every article used to hit the front page of Google within just 15-20 minutes.

All of a sudden on May 9th, my traffic dropped from golden 5000 to only 1000 visitors/day. So what happened over night? I started thinking about what have I done? have I committed any sin? I started thinking about the posts I made, links that I point to and what not. At one point, you even think about what you had in dinner. Seriously!! No body wants to go in Google hell. 

There is no way to contact Google and find out what happened to your site so that you lost your traffic or rank. So the only place left is Google's webmaster Help forum. I posted my question on Google Webmaster Help group and got replies from few "experts" about what could be wrong with my site. I am not sure if those speculations were causing my website to loose traffic or Google had changed their alogorithms.

I have been following Google webmaster forum since then and I noticed that lots and lots of people are seeing traffic drop since May 9th 2008. Someone thinks that they included AdSense and the next day they lost their ranking. Some thinks that they changed the commenting system in their blog and next day they lost the rank. Someone thinks that they changed the hosting provider and lost their google ranking.

Is Google becoming God? As no one knows about how God perform his operations, no one knows how Google indexes websites or punishes websites. So when you loose your ranking, what comes first in your mind?
