Its been a week or two, I wanted to write about this website but I was busy with work and couldn't write it. Two weeks back I got an email from Manish Hada about his new startup. Manish is a college student and felt the need of some sort of application where you can store all your resumes, addresses, visiting cards, reminders and much more.
The sie name is CoveMan.com, the name is derived from Manish's college/school names. CO(St. Columbas School) VE(Venkateswara College) MAN(Management Development Institute). Manish has developed this site on his own and didn't get any funding (considering the site has been developed in PHP which is open source, you don't need funding as such).
The site has features for storing your resumes, visiting cards, reminders, address book, diary, photos and you can send emails using the site as well. The site also provides you your own blog and classifieds.
I like the idea but I don't know if the site would attract more visitors or not. Considering that all the email service providers provide you address books and calendars, what benefit this site would add. I can see one feature which is useful is Resumes. I have seen people managing 5-10 different resumes while they apply for different jobs. While you can store your resumes on your computers, this site provides you an option to store your resumes online so that you can get it when ever and where ever you want it as long as you have an internet connection.
I found out one flaw in this site. Once you login, it takes you to "My Coveman". The site has Coveman logo on the top left corner. Every time you click on that logo, it takes you back to the login screen of the site which is wierd. You would think that you have to login again but if you click on my blogs or any other link, you would be back to your account. So the site should check if the user has logged in, the CoveMan logo should hyperlink to user's "My Coveman" page instead of the site login page.
The only thing that I am worried about this site is security. How secure is the site and can someone trust this site to store their email addresses? That would be a question to Manish.
Another thing I didn't like about this site is its color scheme. I personally feel like its an old looking website. Now a days people use light and flashy colors and also uses eye candy icons. You know what I mean? Manish might need to revamp this site and get some professional help for web design. But thats just my opinion.
I wish Manish Hada a good luck for his startup.
