UK Government found out about the security breach in an online Visa Application for UK which was operated in India by VFS. A security flaw meant that applicants' personal data was viewable by other internet users. UK Government immediately closed down VFS-operated application websites in India, Nigeria and Russia.
The UK government has introduced its own online visa application programme Visa4UK (Visa4UK.fco.gov.uk) through its website UKvisas (UKvisas.gov.uk) for the Indian market. This application is the replacement of the VFS website application service, which had been suspended due to a reported security breach.
Using this new application system, users can book their appointments online as well as they can make payments online. Online applications are given a priority as opposed to hand-written applications. (via: Express Travel World)
The site still doesn't show India as "supported country" for this new online application.
