Bharat Matrimony has initiated a new service called Matrimony Diary. The site is may be one of its kind in India but the concept is been around for a while in western countries. If you have seen a website www.myevent.com, you would know what I am talking about.
 
The concept here is that, you create your own website for your event, put event information, put stories about the event, put pictures from the events, put thank you notes for the event and thats on your personal domain name.
 
So lets say for example, Mr X is getting married with Ms Y, you can have a domain name called www.XwedsY.com and then Mr X puts his stories about the wedding, Ms Y puts her stories about the wedding, thank you notes, pictures and Mr X and Ms Y can share their website with their friends, relatives who can not make it to the wedding. 

 

 

 

"This is the first of its kind wedding site in the world as we are offering free registration of domain names like raghavwedsrekha.com, snehasathish.com for one year," Murugavel Janakiraman, founder and CEO of Bharat Matrimony, told IANS.

 

Well the site itself is not one of its kind, yeah the 'FREE' part of it is definitely one of its kind. I would definitely say that even myevent.com charges around $10 per month to have something similar.

 

MatrimonyDiary.com provides free registration and free domain name for its customers. Just fill in the registration form and get a a free domain. User can set their website's viewing preferences as Public or Private. The site provides few templates that you can choose from to build your wedding site.

 

I wonder why are they giving free separate domain name for this. I mean, they could have created sub domains for these facility instead of giving away the full domain name. For e.g. XwedsY.matrimonydiary.com or something similar. In that case they could have thought some meaningful name for their website. Sub domains now a days are free anyway. My website gets unlimited domain names. You know what I am saying?

 

According to WebIndia123, the offer is open only to those whose wedding is coming up within six months. It is not limited to only those who found their match through Bharat Matrimony.

The diary will be free for one year, after which the user can choose to continue using it by paying a fee of Rs.1,000 per year.

    I found the site and it is really useful. I can jus pass on the link to my friends who are not in Chennai and could not make it to the marriage.

    Rather than sending & forwarding attachments each and every time (Bcos, I tend to drop names while sending mass mail) I can just forward the link. Further it gives a description about me and the bride and makes it an interesting autobiography

    Nice initiative by bharat matrimony

    If your marriage is happening in 6 months, you would be doing a lot of shopping, where bharat matrimony will earn by online advertising of jewellery, clothes, etc, and tying up with jewellery shops, clothes stores, tourism departments and fast moving consumer goods. IT IS A VERY OLD WAY OF MAKING LOT OF MONEY ON THE INTERNET. In such case, why would they limit only Bharat matrimony members??

    Well, the fact that they have not introduced the initiative in the format of subdomains and that it allows even those couples who had not registered with Bharat matrimony to use it, by itself shows that they are not marketing their own site and that, they are just being people friendly. Hats off to Bharatmatrimony.
