Through one of the group’s subsidiaries, the website has also been scaled to USA - one of the most mature Insurance markets. “Our indigenous engine being completely flexible, we plan to scale the website with offerings from across the globe.” said Niraj Jain, Principal Officer- Insurance.
Definitely this website will provide common insurance buyer complete power of information and decision making as the customer can compare the insurance prices between leading insurance providers.
But what drew my attention to write about this website was its Search Engine Optimization technique.
Have you guys heard the term "Keyword Stuffing"? Let me explain you what this means. According to Wikipedia, Keyword stuffing is considered to be an unethical search engine optimization (SEO) technique. Keyword stuffing occurs when a web page is loaded with keywords in the meta tags or in content. The repetition of words in meta tags may explain why many search engines no longer use these tags.
Keyword stuffing is used to obtain maximum search engine ranking and visibility for particular phrases. A word that is repeated too often may raise a red flag to search engines. In particular, Google has been known to delist sites employing this technique, and their indexing algorithm specifically lowers the ranking of sites that do this.
The CEO of InsuranceMall.in, Mr. Manish Jaiswal few months back posted a review thread in Google Groups. According to Manish Jaiswal, InsuranceMall.in is India's number one insurance site and he asked the fellow google webmaster's group members to review his website. I was surprised after I see the replies. One person pointed out that this site is considered to be a spam and uses keyword stuffing for cheap search engine optimization. There is a tool out there which tells whether the site uses keyword stuffing or some sort of spam SEO techniques.
You can easily find out about this keyword stuffing once you visit their website. Open up your browser and go to www.insurancemall.in. Then click one view source code. You will find out the <h1> tag with CSS style "display:none" which has all the possible keywords related to insurance so that it can get listed in search engines. Thats just not right. I dont know how come google is still listing their website. Sooner or later, they will be penalized for this.
I would not use this website for my insurance buying because If the company can do such un-ethical stuff, how can I trust this company? What do you guys have to say about that?
Updates: After this post, InsuranceMall has made the changes to the site and have removed the keyword stuffing from their website. I got comment from the team lead of this website (read comments below) about this change and I have reviewed their website again. I would like to thank the team for listening to this post and making necessary changes. Wish you good luck.
